Yesterday I had an opportunity to try out some new studio photography skills I have been learning. For the most part some of them turned out pretty well. I borrowed my friend’s Canon Mark II 5D camera so that we could use the speed-light as well as the studio lights with a soft box, which was borrowed from another friend. We were able to get it to work intermittently but realized that because of the batteries dying that the speed-light was not working. Eventually we decided against the speed-light and went with just the studio light.

Although, I was still in the mind set that we had another fill light along with the key light and some of them were a bit darker. I learned more about paying attention to where to place the person so that their entire face has the correct exposure. It was definitely a learning experience but it was a lot of fun. I also learned that I definitely am ready for a more professional grade camera and soon will get some studio lights. Even though I mostly want to do editorial and outdoor photography it still will be interesting to do studio photography from time to time. As soon as I get permission I will post some of the shots that were taken.
