Spending time with family doing photography is a perfect day and so it was a perfect trip. The amount of photography I got to do was incredible. And I even did some family portraits the day after I returned home, so essentially in a week I got to experience almost all kinds of photography.

So what did I discover?

Editorial and commercial tend to be what I gravitate to the most. I like being able to go out and capture the moment and try and get the shot that best shows what is happening; then with the commercial aspect, it feels like it has a purpose. I am shooting this, because…

However, some of my biggest influences for photography are Linda Wolf and Chris Jordan. Linda is considered a human nature photographer, and as I told her, her photography feels like she is capturing people’s authenticity. Chris makes an impact as his photography serves a purpose to show what our consumerism and our choices are doing to the planet and how we need to be aware of it, so it is definitely editorial.

So with that in mind and with what I discovered, it is the earth and its relationship to people that I love to photograph. People in the raw, events as they unfold, and nature as it is and what it could be. In a sense, that’s photojournalism.

I am excited for what more my photography will bring and what more projects I will be doing.

Thanks for taking the road trip with me!  (You will soon see my favorite images on my website at www.alicreative.net!)
